That does it. Off this program comes from my computer. I can live with
only Spybot S&D. Also, when I checked to see if I could get the
program upgrade to install automatically it wouldn't. They advised me
to "Please upgrade your copy using your notification information or
download a new copy from our mirrors". Not only that, but it opened
their home page in Internet Explorer again (my default browser is
Mozilla). That's the straw on the camel's back etc. A shame too, since
it *was* a nice program. I hope they can get their shit together at
some point.

Try decaf, John.

I'm gonna give them the benefit of the doubt. While I don't care about
all the MRU stuff they've added, I *do* appreciate the fact that they're
taking the lead in the fight against CoolWebSearch. With Merjin
abandoning CWShredder, that's worth some consideration.

Actually, I went for a red beer a little while ago. Helped tremendously.

Good point, and I really do hate "CoolWebSearch", having had to remove
it from several friends' computers. Still, I'm going to wait until
things settle down before putting it back on my system.

Jeeeeessssuss... John, get over it. It's freeware and they don't owe you a
thing and here you are bad-mouthing their software because you can't
configure your system correctly....

I'll bet you would complain about a free meal too.... And... did you read
the FAQ which states acf is "discussions >>> relating <<<< to freeware"....

John won't see this since I'm in his kill-file ........ (if he ever got it
done right that is....)

Bob S.

He's in my killfile too. But there's no way for me to kill message that make
REFERENCE to John Corliss.

Or is there? Anyone?

P.S. ... The spell checker wants to correct "Corliss" ...
the suggested correction is "Cordless" :-)

Join the club, the numbers are growing! :-)

I did the same, and for much the same reasons, plus the large number of
false alerts.

I've reinstalled 6.181 though. That, apparently, will continue to be
updated for up to 90 days. There was an update today (13th) when I tried.

With luck, Lavasoft will get the message and sort out this mess in those 90
days.

Cheers,

Roy

So long as you drop them an email to let them know. I doubt the number
of people not using it will be enough to flag anything with them.

Using 1.02 now without problems.

There's no support for SE, so an email will go ignored. All one can do
is to post in their forums:

http://www.lavasoftsupport.com/

I just registered, but "The administrator wishes to preview all new
registered accounts before posting permissions are granted. The
administrator has been notified of (my) registration."

But I want it NOW!!! 80)>

Fixed quite a few false positives for 1.02 and 1.03 Espically with
regards to Hosts files.

Seconded. You should always expect some problems when there is a major
upgrade.

Spybot doesn't seem to be getting as many updates recently, it would be
very wise to keep ad-aware as a backup.

I think things have settled down now.

Lavasoft seem to have sorted this out very quickly.

Late Friday night one of my sons said he had installed Adaware SE on a PC
belonging to another of my sons without my problems.

As a result, I downloaded Build 1.03, installed and ran that, and Bingo,
problems solved!

No more calling up IE, and no false alerts. Well done Lavasoft for sorting
this so quickly.

Cheers,

Roy

Cool! Thanks for pointing this out. I'll download and install it.

Calling up IE was, frankly, my biggest problem with the program.
