I ran a system scan with Norton 2004 and it came up with the following
threats.
msbb.exe- Adaware.180Search
mssbhook.dll- Adaware.Ncase
preInsTT.exe- Adaware.Binet (found 4 of these)
twaintec.dll- Adaware.Binet (found 4 of these also)

I went to delete them and the delete came up as failed. I went to the
Symentac site to see how to get rid of them and it is a tad beyond my scope
of understanding how to delete them. Any help would be greatly appreciated
on this matter. Thanks.

Do a find on them, and then delete them in DOS.

AdAware ???
^
FWIW, they call it Adware.Ncase, etc.
The "removal instructions" say
< quote >
1.Update the virus definitions.
2.Delete the value that was added to the registry. Restart the
computer.
3.Run a full system scan and delete all the files detected as
Adware.Ncase.
< /quote >
and give step-by-step for each of the above.

Which part gives you trouble?

Write down the full path of the files (e.g.
C:\Windows\system32\twaintec.dll). Reboot and press the F8 key before the
Windows splash screen. on the menu, choose Safe Mode. This will load Windows
without any drivers/extra apps etc. Now navigate to each file and delete to
your hearts content.
