I decided to now take the plunge and put Adaware 2007 on my xp computers.
So far so good. I did take the adware service and put it to manual.
So far it is doing ok. much better than when i first installed it.
Also make sure you remove adaware se completely and take out any folders it
leaves behind.

Please keep us posted if you encounter anything there, Robin. If I don't
see anything back from you in a week, I'll dip my toes in the water too.

I will, on Monday I am going to put it on one more computer it was
originally having a belly ache on.
Also btw someone from Lafasoft finally answered me about my vista problem
with the program and this is what he said to do and it worked!

He told me to go to a command prompt- (run as an admin) and type cd
c:\Windows\System32
then type: regsvr32 vbscript.dll

I am wondering why I had to register vbscript.dll to finally get it to work.

oh i will tell you though in Vista, i have to run it as an administrator or
I get a application system error and it closes.
If i try to click on it again after running as an admin- it now will open
but it will not run as a standard user.

The aawservice.exe will start when you run the prog. and you will have to go
into services again to stop it. I tried Adaware 2007 and didn't like having
to stop the service every time because just that service was using 27k of
memory

That didn't work for me, even after closing the aawservice.exe was still
running even though the service was set to manual

i use processor.exe and it showed that after closing Ad aware there were no
spikes nor movement from adaware, oh and you are correct, i am wrong, it
does stay "started" even if you put it manual but at least it doesn't boot
up at startup.
