Hello all, I have installed AdAware 2007 and it seems to work well, but I
looked at my running processes and see a process called aawservice.exe and
this "service" is using almost 27k which is quite allot. The previous version
didn't have this "service" so what dose this do, and should it use that much
memory ?

as long as you are using the free version you can take the awservice.exe and
put it as manual and it will not run in the backround.
To do this you go into Control Panel/Administrative Services/ Click on
"Services"

Go to where you see the "awservice.exe" highlight it and rightclick and
click "Stop"
then right click again and go to "Properties"
where it says "Start in" (it is a dropdown box)- now you will see it as
"Automatic"
Click on "Manual" Say Ok- Make sure it changes to manual.
Now the program will still run but the awservice will not run in the
backround.
You can only do this with the free version

little revision
you might not see awservice in "services"
You might see it as Ad-Aware 2007 Service--this is the same thing

If you run AdAware 2007, this is going to be running again until you stop it. I use WinPatol "Services" to stop it each time after I run it. You can also do this from Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Services and locate AdAware2007 and stop it from running. I believe it will stay running next time you run it though - that's the way they have it set up.

Thanks Robin and John, I already have been in services in Computer
Management and aawservice is running and start is automatic, I will set it
to manual.Thanks again

Every time you run AdAware the service will be left running. To stop it:
Start | Run | net stop aawservice
The next time you want to use the command it will be available via the "Run"
drop down menu.

Tom, The new versions are finding many more cookies than ever before. I used
to find maybe 3-5 tracking cookies now 15-25. My last scan (today) found
11 different Tacoda and 9 Euroclick cookies alone. I'm scanning at least
every
other day if not more, i'm finding this Tocoda Tracking Cookie everywhere.
AVG AS, Spybot, Ad-Aware and A-Squared on-line scan all found Tacoda today.
BTW - Even with all the scanning i do A-Squared also found
(10) - Trace.File.Registry.Blubster and (1) Trace.File.NGC ActiveSpy XP and
Trend Micro's House Call found :Trojan.Win32.small.ga. Yes as you see i've
been doing alot of scanning today.

I still cannot get adaware 2007 to install on my vista home premium and no
one on the forum has answered any of my questions :(
everything installs fine on it

ron I am confused
the website you gave me is from april 17, 2007 and they talk about the beta
one for vista
Adaware 2007 is out of beta and I cannot even get it to install nevermind
run

Hi Robin, Yes i noticed the date and the problem with Vista but just didn't
know if
there was a version out of beta and ready for Vista yet. Hope i didn't get
you more confused.

it is out of beta but i cannot understand why it will not install at all
when everything else installs with no problems.
