After I installed Adeptec Easy CD Creator 4 my computer
will not shut down correctly; I have to press the power
button in for 10 seconds to get the system to power down.
I unistalled it and the problem continues. ANy suggestions
for correcting this problem: I just want it to shut down
when I ask it to.

You might want to check the FAQ at the roxio site for install or uninstall
instructions.

I had the same problem...Unfortunately I can't remember exactly how I fixed
it...It has something to do with roxio and directcd. If I installed one
before the other it would not shut down but if I reversed it then it was
ok..Uninstall first.

My problem log shows this: DirectCD Creator (4.01 not compatible with McAfee 6)
So I upgraded to 5 (plus their patch) and kept McAfee.
.............................................
I also toasted my OS lately and messed up a couple of things.
I fixed my next Direct CD problem - it was timing out when formatting a CD-RW,
but the cause was not what I thought.
ROXIO's Easy CD Creator has this: Adaptec CD Burner Engine. Windows Media Player
installed uses this same engine as a plug-in to burn CDs from the internet (or
wherever) directly inside the Windows Media Player. I found this information
on the internet (very recent dates):
Uninstall Windows Media Player. Uninstall Easy CD Creator.
Re-install Windows Media Player . Then install Easy CD Creator - in that order.
This puts Easy CD Creator in charge of the engine.
