Adaptec 39320 - Dell OEM

I have a Dell 39320 (Adaptec) scis card that I want to use with only
one disk (Cheetah 320 10K), but I am unable to disable the HostRaid
function. After searching the net for a while, I have found that this
is not possible with this card, since that function has been removed
from the Dell OEM. There is a description on how to do this here, by
flashing the BIOS back to a vanilla Adaptec. Its in german:
http://www.administrator.de/Adaptec_39320A-R_von_Dell_Bios_auf_Adapte...
but it requires a default Adaptec 39320 SEEPROM.

I have been unable to find this SEEPROM file online. Does anyone have
such a SEEPROM file handy?

Any other suggestions on how to make one disk work on this Dell would
be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Use a different controller from a vendor that has not gone down
the drain as Adaptec surely has in the last few years? And don't
buy Dell?

He he, yes I probably should - but all this was given to me, and you
can't beat that price! ;)

Well, you are right of course!

Best bet is to get the firmware somewhere and reflash. Maybe Adaptec
has updates on their website?

I have the BIOS update for the card, but need the SEEPROM (dont ask me
what this does, because I do not know..) from an original card, before
I can update the BIOS. I have already saved the SEEPROM from my
Dell/Adaptec card to a file, and I assume that it is this file that I
need before I can flash the card.

Its pretty easy to save the file, you just need a scsi-utility that is
available from Adaptec to get access to the extended BIOS settings, and
then save it to a file. I have found such a file for the 19160, so I
know that there are such files online - but I have not found the one
for my card.

As I understand it, the card will be a standard Adaptec 39320 card
after the flashing, with the option to enable/disable the HostRaid -
and thats just what I need. I plan to replace the one Cheetah with two
HP 10K drives in RAID 0 in a few weeks, but I need to get the computer
up and running now.

.... and the quest continues ...

Well, I got it working. I contacted the guy who wrote the german post,
and he gave me the files needed to flash the card to a standard
Adaptec, without the crappy Dell BIOS, so I am no longer in need of
assistance! :D

Thanks!
