I have three questions:

1) Should all my domain controllers have matching sysvol folders down to the
file date? If a server is newer than the policy, will it inherit an older
policy as replication between all the domain controllers is essential?

2) Is there a ADMT that will assist in the migration of a Windows 2000
environment to a Windows 2000 environment? We recently bought out a company
and we want to find a migration tool.

Thanks for your help!

Question One: Where's question three ??? said:

Yes and no. The overall structure (minus the staging folders) should be the
same, but the time stamps will vary.

If the policy exists on one DC and you introduce a new DC, then yes, this
will be replicated. Replication uses USN (Update Sequence numbers) not time
stamps (although timestamps are used for some types of conflict resolution).

2) Is there a ADMT that will assist in the migration of a Windows 2000
environment to a Windows 2000 environment? We recently bought out a

Yes. ADMTv2 is suitable for inter-forest and intra-forest migrations. It's
a free download from MS.

Thanks for the quick response to my three (Question one was two fold)
questions!

I am still a little confused about the sysvol folder replication. One of the
troubleshooting steps MS recommends when dealing with replication issues is
comparing the policy folder under sysvol and making sure all the policies are
the same as well as the time stamp? Can you elaborate?

Hmmm, then perhaps I'm mistaken and the timestamps are also replicated. Can
you post the link you're referring to so that I may check please?

Sorry, I meant can you post the URL of the article that states that the
timestamps are going to be the same <g>?
