AD Storage Size/RAM after Removing a GC?

I've removed the Global Catalog from a DC and rebooted it
(more than once). Shouldn't I see a decrease in the size
of the AD store? Also LSASS RAM usage climbs up to the
same as my other GC's when I'd think it should only use as
much as a non-CG DC. Opinions?
Curious numbers: CG 1 & 2 are 2 years old, 3 is new
name LSASS RAM AD Store
CG1 235 MB 450 MB
CG2 (removed) 228 MB 446 MB
CG3 (new) 128 MB 284 MB
non GC DC 50 to 80 MB 52 to 80 MB
there are many other CG's and non CG DC's too.

The only way to decrease the AD database after a such change or mass removal
of objects are to perform an offline defragmentation.

Thanks. I won't have to do that as I'm going to remove
them and then install 2003. That's why I'm transferring
the fsmo roles off and moving the GC's.
