Hi Jason,
Thanks for posting here!
From my research, I would like to suggest that we perform the following
steps to work around this issue.
1. Ensure the DC's "Preferred DNS server" is set to itself.
You can run the command "ipconfig /all" to get the detailed TCP/IP
configurations.
2. Regenerate the DNS data (please configure your DNS to allow dynamic
updates first):
2.1) From a command prompt, run 'NET STOP NETLOGON' (without the quotes).
2.2) Open explorer, and navigate to \WINNT\system32\config.
2.3) Rename Netlogon.dnb and Netlogon.dns to Oldnetlogon.dnb and
Oldnetlogon.dns (Please don't touch other files).
2.4) From a command prompt, run 'NET START NETLOGON' (without the quotes).
It should register with itself, and rebuild the netlogon.dns and
netlogon.dnb files.
Hope it helps!
Sincerely,
Bruce Chen

| I have a strange issue with a Win2K DC that is multihomed. Almost all of
the
| DNS records appeared to have vanished. Only a few host records remain.
There
| is none of the AD record " _msdcs, _sites, _tcp " are listed. This is the
| only DNS at the location. When I tried to use " Update Server Data File "
| the option was unavailable / greyed out.
|
| I tried to disable the second NIC but with no success. The system had its
| own DNS listed as primary and then an outside / routed IP as the
secondary.
|
| Any suggestions would be welcomed.
|
| Thanks
