AD/QDNS question

I have one W2K server running AD services. It is the only one in the
domain. Recently we changed the corporate DNS from .blabla.org to
..blablaBLA.com. The DNS server is linux based and is not setup to
dynamically update. So I run MS DNS on the AD server.

I want to change the QDN of the server from adserver.blabla.org to
adserver.blablaBLA.com. It is the main fileserver for about 200 users. I
can not afford to have this system down for more than a weekend.

What I have read in the group still makes me skepticl. Any further input
would be appreciated.

Thanks -B

Renaming a Windows 2000 domain is a major task and only possible when you
are in mixed mode as an NT 4.0 BDC is required. You probably couldn't do it
in a weekend. This kb has the process.

Another option, although equally difficult, is to upgrade to Windows Server
2003 AD and use the new domain rename tool, rendom.exe.
