AD issues with Exchange Server

My network is Windows NT Server 4 going to 2000 w/Active
Directory (AD). I upgraded a PDC to 2000 and built
another server with AD as well. I am trying to disconnect
the upgraded server from the network and operate AD. When
I perform this task some users have no problems however
several users experience, when using Outlook 2000, a GUI
that requires a username, password, and domain. When I
connect the server back, everybody is happy. Why am I
experiencing this problem with AD? The Server is Exchange
5.5. I also installed Exchange 2000 on the new server but
not doing nothing at this time.

Sounds like your upgraded DC is hosting several key items needed for your
infrastructure. I would investigate your FSMO Roles (operations masters) and
their assignments in your Forest, your Global catalog distributions, and
your DNS implementation if on MS.
