Greetings,

AD installation is failing. Here's what I do:

I have a win 2000 server. I have configured my TCP/IP
setting, and my DNS settings using Microsoft tutorial.

1- I run dcpromo, and go through the wizard selecting all
defaults for a new domain controller (new tree, forest
etc...).

2- I enter the correct domain and BIOS. I go through the
windows that prompt for AD storage (C:\WINNT\NTDS...)

3- I select "Permissions compatible with pre-Windows 2000
servers".

4- I finish wizard using all defaults, and assign a
password

Configuration for AD starts, i get this error:
"The operation failed with the following error:
"The system cannot find the path specified."

Any idea why? HELP!

Thanks in Advance,
Don

More than likely the problem is improper dns configuration. If this is the
only dc then it should be pointed to itself for dns and should not be
pointed to any external dns server in its tcpip properties.
