I have a default profile on all of our local boxes (that
for example has the perfered background and Word settings
that we want our users to have). When we log on to the
domain, it uses this local(on the PC) profile...can't I
get AD to store a profie on the server, so when the
profile changes..I have to do one time on the server and
not at 130 PC's. We do not use roaming profiles....
Help the little people!

If your using a win2k3 domain then please remember that things have
improved, we use roaming profiles on win2k and they are not that much
trouble honest.

Okay then what your really looking at is configuring a default desktop for
everyone in your organisation something similar to the old NT4 ZA Kit
(ZeroAdministration).

Here is a link to a John Savill article on window & .net's web site for
review
But remember that most of the functions of the old ZAK have been integrated
first in Win2k and now in win2k3 so they have evolved a generation. You can
configure most of the settings via group policy

here's another review User Profiles and IntelliMirror Technology on this
page

Using IntelliMirror to Manage User Data and Settings

and finally the definitive Win2k3 deployment guide on line

http://www.microsoft.com/resources/...2003/all/deployguide/en-us/dmebc_dsm_pbpu.asp

please have a read through and try a small pilot first to play with the
settings in a test OU with a test pc / laptop on your domain and see what
can be achieved that works for you
