Hi,

I'm looking for some peer advice on what sort of stuff to check when doing
health checks/daily monitoring of AD.

Any advice would be appreciated...

You are back! It has been awhile.

I would run dcdiag /c /v and netdiag /v as well as repadmin /showreps and
repadmin /showconn. Replmon would also be a nice tool to use. You might
want to look at nltest as well. Running frsdiag might not be a bad idea as
well. These do not take that much time to do and are really proactive.

There are some other tools that I will think of in a little bit, I am sure.

Boddingtons right? ;-)

If you're talking about automated monitoring, like a script that runs daily,
you could still use Cary's suggestions and e-mail the output of the tools to
you. You could also try and pull uptime out of the logs or network
properties, etc.

If you implement scavenging, you might want to check the SRV record
registrations quite frequently.

Ian,

Excellent suggestion. I was simply going for the 'built-in' possibilities.
You guys sure have an excellent array of applications out there!
