Hi,

In an Active Directory Network I have setup, one user has
a laptop that they take home every night. While at work I
have them setup with static DNS ( pionted to the server)
so the login does not take 5 minutes, but when they go
home they do not get internet because thier computer is
still pionted to the internal server which is obviously
not there.

How can I set it up to use dynamic DNS so they get
internet at home but not to get slow logins at work? The
dynamic DNS also caused the computer to not pick up the
Group Policy so they do not have any server access.

Thank you for any input.

This is not a DNS issue, it is a network issue.
That being said, use DHCP to assign IP and DNS and do not give them a static
IP or DNS. You really should have DHCP setup on your network anyway.
How do they connect to the internet at home?
Through a LAN or dial up?

if you are using an IBM laptop, I recommend their excellent "access
connections" software that gives you dynamic on-the-fly network profiling .
.. . if not there are a few "network switching" software packages for
laptops. Do a "google."
