Hello,

does anyone have information about a Client for Active Dir. for Mac OS? Is
it possible that MS will make a AD Client for MAC OS? I want to use
ISA-Server for Win- and Mac-User (with all functions)?

Hi Andre!

Microsoft doesn't really need to make AD clients for any non-Windows
machine, because its base structure is based on LDAP, which is already a
standard not limited to just Windows, but open to Mac and Unix-based
machines as well.

If you're looking for Microsoft to make clients for non-Windows machines so
that they can join a Windows domain, you're probably out of luck. Windows
domains are a Microsoft proprietary implementation for managing computers of
the same platform.

Mac OS X 10.3 does have an AD plug-in built in to allow it to authenticate
to AD and work with it, but it can never be a full AD client.

SMB can allow a non-Windows machines to participate in a domain, but you'll
get mostly authentication support. This set up can't support the security
and remote administration that can be applied to Windows machines.

What functions in an ISA server client are you looking for that can't be
achieved via different authentication methods or setups?
