I have decided to remove adaware 2007 from every computer I work on.
I have a client who downloaded the latest update and when it came back with
the updates not only did it crash but she lost all her icons and the
computer locked up.
I was able to get it to reboot into windows but i did a system restore prior
to the upadate and then uninstalled the program.
I have it on another client's computer and it keeps crashing everytime it
tries to do an update.
On one of my computers it messed up AVG update real bad and did this same
thing to 2 of my clients computer too.
I uninstalled the program- had to uninstal AVG and reinstall it.
and when it runs it never finds anything anyway-just cookies and for that
you can use a program like superantispyware and AVG antispyware to remove
bad cookies.
Until Lavasoft comes up with a program like its Adaware SE- you will not see
this program on any of my clients computers.
I am fed up with it so I removed it off all my clients computers.

I'm not surprised, Robin. I've kept a more or less regular eye on what's
been happening over at the Lavasoft forum, and the thing is clearly a
nightmare for many people. Even when it works properly, it seems to be very
user-unfriendly.

The weirdest thing of all is the contradictory situation with SE. The advice
is that it's obsolete, yet users who have the paid version are still
provided with updates. If it's obsolete, what service do Lavasoft believe
they're providing by doing that? I presume that by making it 'difficult' to
get updates for SE free, they think they'll encourage people to install the
free-falling disaster that is AdAware 2007, but thereby they are
accumulating (as we can see on the forum) more and more sorry tales of woe.
The whole thing makes no sense. The only thing that does make sense is to
keep it off my computer, like you and your clients!

I'm seriously considering whether to stop using this new version as it just
doesn't seem to be so stable as the SE version, been wondering about putting
Windows Defender on so came here to try and find out a bit more about it <g>

Windows Defender is good but it is not the "all all" and one antispyware is
not enough.
Try Superantispyware, it comes free too and it plays very nice with Windows
Defender

I wholly agree that LS 2007 is much less "stable" than SE, Joan.
The issues that I had were the app crashing on web update.
I tried LS 2007 on three boxes with the same result - too bad.
