Is Adaware 2007 now working properly or are there still problems with false
positives, etc.

To my knowledge there have been no false positives since the first update.

but it still works funky on and off

The Lavasoft forum still makes scary reading, in all kinds of ways. I still
wouldn't go anywhere near AdAware 2007 at present.

here is an interesting question. I put ad aware 2007 free 7.0.1.5 back on my
test computer just to check it out again.
I found something interesting and maybe you can help (I posted it on their
website too but I am assuming at least i will get a faster answer here)
After installation and checking updates I noticed that the Resident Shield
now allows you to turn it on. It did not in 7.0.13 version
Also the adwatch 7 when clicking on the icon took you no where. It came back
and said you need the pro version for it.
Now adwatch is working too but the "connect" is grayed out but all the rest
are not-huh? It is showing resident shield on too. Seems all the settings
all over it work too- am I in the "twilight zone" here. The main program
does say AD-aware FREE- I looked 2x.

Good catch!

I use Ad-Aware strictly as a backup/on-demand scanner so I hadn't seen this
and I had gone as far as to remove the Ad-Watch icon from my desktop. If I
select Ad-Watch from the Ad-Aware UI, I see the message that I must have Pro
or Plus to use Ad-Watch. If I start Ad-Watch manually from its own icon,
then my results are the same as yours.

So I thought that perhaps Lavasoft had given us a reason to keep their 35.6
MByte service in memory (I normally terminate the service after a scan), but
I see that Ad-Watch runs as a separate process using 9.5 MBytes. I haven't
been able to determine if Ad-Watch is truly functional in the free version.
Is it possible that Ad-Watch must connect in order to execute at least some
of its functions?

I have now been able to verify that Ad-Watch is indeed working by attempting
to view a known Wachovia phishing site. I received a total of 10 RegShield
alerts.

For educational purposes only...

i will test that site on my test computer later this morning but i am
wondering why ad watch was now added to work in the newest free version and
nothing was announced on the lavasoft fourm or their official website that
it is indeed working in the free version because you have the ability to
click "start when computer starts" so it actually becomes a "resident
shield"

going to that site and yes i changed the hxxp to http, i got a timed out
both in ie and firefox
but the adwatch did show 7 incidents in Resident Shield

Bob what do you have checked in "General Settings" on both sides?

robin

also it is actually working
I have cookies checked and when going to the yahoo site as a test since they
do have alot of ads - (i have the adwatch set to blink) it started blinking
all over
when i pulled it up it showed it grabbed 2 cookies
BTW you can go into Regshield- userlist and allow or disallow- I had to
allow ie and msmessenger or they would not work.
I am wondering if it is really any good and what features are really
disabled in the free version.
I did take the residential shield off Adaware 2007 because i too do not want
it running in the backround.
I am still not loading it up on my other computers or my clients computers
until i really get to test it (after a few more mths) and see less
complaints in their forums.

Yes i had AD-Watch working, icon in system tray, Real time protection on.
But i had checked the box run at start up in AD-Watch settings and
re-started my computer and now it seems that i have lost the use of the RTP.

YOU ARE RIGHT! lol
I just did the update too
and adwatch stopped working
I bet they did not even realize they had it on in this version and my post
to the forum showed them it.
Maybe I should not have said anything :P
