but it still works funky on and off
robinb said:here is an interesting question. I put ad aware 2007 free 7.0.1.5 back on my
test computer just to check it out again.
I found something interesting and maybe you can help (I posted it on their
website too but I am assuming at least i will get a faster answer here)
After installation and checking updates I noticed that the Resident Shield
now allows you to turn it on. It did not in 7.0.13 version
Also the adwatch 7 when clicking on the icon took you no where. It came back
and said you need the pro version for it.
Now adwatch is working too but the "connect" is grayed out but all the rest
are not-huh? It is showing resident shield on too. Seems all the settings
all over it work too- am I in the "twilight zone" here. The main program
does say AD-aware FREE- I looked 2x.
Robin scratches her head!

I use Ad-Aware strictly as a backup/on-demand scanner so I hadn't seen this
and I had gone as far as to remove the Ad-Watch icon from my desktop. If I
select Ad-Watch from the Ad-Aware UI, I see the message that I must have Pro
or Plus to use Ad-Watch. If I start Ad-Watch manually from its own icon,
then my results are the same as yours.
So I thought that perhaps Lavasoft had given us a reason to keep their 35.6
MByte service in memory (I normally terminate the service after a scan), but
I see that Ad-Watch runs as a separate process using 9.5 MBytes. I haven't
been able to determine if Ad-Watch is truly functional in the free version.
Is it possible that Ad-Watch must connect in order to execute at least some
of its functions?
