I had a client setup their own W2k server with active
directory and dns. Unfortunately they made their local
domain their registered external web domain (blah.com
instead of blah.local). Now when they check their POP
email the Outlook clients do not work. What type of DNS
entry do I have to make to get blah.com to resolve to the
external IP address again???

A host poiting to the IP of the mail server or a delegation for the correct
name (It has to be the same name as the host on the public DNS), to the
authoritative DNS servers.

Kevin is 100% correct here. The one thing to keep in mind is that in this
configuration (commonly known as a "split-brain dns") you need to manage
this entry a bit more than you would probably like. If the provider
changes the server's address, chances are good that they won't necessarily
let you know about the change so that you can update your client's DNS
server. The first you will know about it will probably be when the client
calls and explains that they can't get email any more.
