I have the problem listed on the following Microsoft
support site:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=281679
"You Cannot Open New Internet Explorer Window or Nothing
Happens After You Click a Link"
When I right-click a link and try to open a new window, no
new window opens. It is extremely annoying when you have to
constantly open new windows via the explorer menus and copy
shortcut - paste to keep your existing one. Sometimes, I
even click a link on the page and nothing even happens in
that window. Most annoying.
Following the instructions through I find that all the
registry values are normal... the only problem is that I
have found the file Actxprxy.dll to be missing. I am not
going to uninstall/reinstall my operating system to fix
such an irritating glitch (the version of explorer came
with the operating system and I can't uninstall it
seperately for some STUPID reason only Microsoft knows). My
questions are thus:
* Is this missing Actxprxy.dll file the cause of my problem?
* If so, can I download it seperately (from the original XP
disc?)
* If it is not the problem, how can I 'repair' explorer
without having to do something as drastic as
uninstall/reinstall the whole OS?
Thanks in advance for any assistance.
