Could the possibility of me installing Google Chrome have anything to do
with me having to activate Windows XP?
Just curious.

No. Please describe exactly what problem you are experiencing
with product activation.

No problem - except being told by MS to reactivate my XP installation a day
after installing ' Google Chrome ' as an alternative browser!
And being given 3 days to verify my genuine XP copy and having to justify my
purchase with 108 numbers!
I expect that could be coincidence!

How were you told by MS to re-activate?

You might need to re-activate XP if you update a driver or something
"clobbers" the product activation "controls" on your PC. I have
installed Chrome last week on two PC and they are okay, for now.

Hi,
just a pop-up informing me to re-activate my xp installation within 3days!
And since I had not had to do this before, I wondered if my 'Chrome' browser
installation the day before was in some way the cause.

Well, I know that Chrome does not normally "clobber" product
activation, as long as you get it from a respectable site.
