Hi. I inserted an activex Progressbar using frontpage2002
and windows melenium, but I don't know how to make it work
with anything like a download. Can you tell me where to
find instructions. I published it at
users.adelphia.net/~windfall242 . Using target button6 on
my website, all a get is a grey rectangle. Also, is
activeX controls rarely used anymore. If not why not.
thanks Jerry

Yes I just found the reply to my original posts. I got the
activex controls from front page 2002. I chose insert a
web component, then selected advanced controls, then
selected activeX controls, and then chose the
progressbar. There were about 10 or more active x
controls to choose from. I don't remember downloading
them, I think they came with fp2002. thanks jerry

FP doesn't install any ActiveX controls. Windows and other applications install them.

ActiveX components only work in Windows IE browsers.
ActiveX components requires the user to allow them to be downloaded to their machine.

You don't have a license to re-distribute ActiveX components that installed on your PC, which is
what would happen if you included them in your website. Nor will you find instructions on how to
used them since they are installed by the application that needs them.

in Frontpage help search on "ActiveX" and you will see it is as Thomas states
(other reply to your post).

there are other ways to make progress bars like you want, with javascript for
instance.

try http://internet.javascript.com
