I recently incurred a problem where I'm unable to access
any password protected websites (although I can still
access Yahoo). I can't even access Microsoft Update for
automatic downloads and when I try, I receive a "Software
update incomplete" message. The error recieved is
(0x800B0004)

I've defaulted both my Security and Privacy settings,
removed the temporary internet files as prescribed in
Knowledge Base Article 319585...with no success.

My AV expired on July 4th and I'm also unable to access
the McAfee site to even renew my subscription to see if I
have any viruses. The error message I receive from
McAfee is that I need to enable my ActiveX controls to
allow the download. Even checking the advanced settings
indicate everything is enabled.

I appreciate any suggestions. This board has been a
lifesaver so many times. Thank you.

I used "Suggestion 1" under the error code a the MS
