ActiveX Controls and odd things

A couple of days ago, my internet connection got messed
up. I reinstalled my dialer and things seemed to return
to normal. But wierd things began to happen. McAfee
firewall wasn't detecting any programs accessing the
internet and I was getting wierd pop-ups that I had never
gotten becuase of my pop-up stopper. Then the wierdest
thing happened today. I dialed on and when I typed a web
address in and clicked go IE did nothing. I had to
restart the machine to get it to work. I figured I had
some type of ad program running without my knowledge.
SpyBot S&D found and removed n-Case and ShopAtHome. I
also can't view some web pages becuase IE tells me
ActiveX is disabled, even though it is fully enabled in
the IE options. I think re-installing IE would fix it,
but it doesn't appear in the Add/Remove programs list.
How do I remove IE to re-install it?

I'm running a Dell 4550 2.4GHz w256Mb RAM and Windows XP
Pro.
 
If you're using XP, on the left of the Add/Remove programs list you will
find Add/Remove Windows Components. Select it and click the option to
deselect IE from the list.
