A corporate application uses an ActiveX control for part
of the functionality. The IE 6 browser session can
successfully download and run the control but then cannot
later re-run the control. I have to go into
Tools>Internet Options>Temporary Internet Files
Settings>View Objects and manually remove the control.
Thereafter, it will work one more time. After each use of
the control I have to remove it in order to get it to load
and run a second time.
During the failure, IE displays no error messages, does
not timeout, and there is nothing in any event log on the
client or the IIS server. The IE progress bar is partly
shaded and it just sits there.
This web page and control works fine on many other
workstations and I can find no difference in IE settings
between working browsers and the problem PC. Of course,
the problem PC belongs to the person who uses the
application most frequently!
Thanks,
