activex component can't create object

I was trying to create a table by importing an excel sheet, then I also
tried creating the table from scratch using the same column names and when I
chose file>get external data> import

I get the same error again.

basically I have a TON of excel files each with only maybe 1-20 records
each, all using the same table structure. I want to import them into one big
table.

I've tried an excel macro to import all the sheets into one excel file but I
can't merge all the sheets into one.
