Activemovie window and Media Player Crash

About two days ago I installed and then uninstalled Pinnacle Studio 9 on my
computer. It said it uninstalled correctly, but now my computer is full of
problems.

None of my media players will fuction now. Even Windows Media Player crashes
when I try to play any video file (it gives me the error message AppName:
wmplayer.exe AppVer: 10.0.0.3646 ModName: ivivideo.ax
ModVer: 4.0.11.369 Offset: 0004ae90).

Several other programs also won't work. Every time I try to run the program,
the activemovie widonw (a black, unresponsive box) minimizes my program and
keeps popping up every tim I try to restore it.

To make matters worse, it won't let me restore my system to any restore
point before the installation.

Is there any way to fix this? Please help me out if you can.
 
Find the file "ivivideo.ax" on your system. Run:
regsvr32 %PATH_TO_IVIVIDEO%\ivivideo.ax
and you should be good...
 
Well, I did as you suggested, but when I tried to run that it didn't work. I
did a search to look for the ivivideo.ax file, and I found it in my DVD
player file, but not in my system file. Strangely, i can still play WMVs and
Avi files, but not mpg or mpeg files. Is there any way to reinstall the
drivers?

Plus, I am still having problems with the activemoive window popping up when
I try to run a program. What causes that?
 
What drivers are you trying to reinstall? The DirectX MPEG decoder will not
assert itself over the top of another MPEG decoder, so the answer there
would be: yes, kind of, but it would be pointless. You would need to run
(corrected this time!):to unregister that old codec. My bad for leaving out the "/u". =P

I don't know why the AM window is popping up, which is why I didn't speak to
that. Since I'm not seeing your computer, it's extraordinarily hard to
debug stuff like this. =)
