Have just installed Microsoft Office 2003. In Excel, whenever I open the
program - I get the error message:

This application is about to initialize Active X controls that might be
unsafe.

I am not opening a file - just the Excel application. Went to "help" and
had no idea what they were talking about to fix a similar problem....which is
not unusual. If I was opening a file from someone, I could understand the
program asking for approval, but not when I just open Excel.

It is possible that an add-in has initialised with the Excel application.
Open Excel and go to tools>add-ins... uncheck all and then add back one at a
time, restarting between each iteration.

If this fails, try looking for files in your xlStart folder (It may be
hidden so show all files and folders) and move anything you find out of here
temporarily and then re-start Excel

Nothing was ticked in the add-ins, so I went to xlStart and it is evidently
my Justwrite program which allows me to use a Wacom pen tablet and write with
the pen in Word or Excel. Is there a way of saying this is ok without having
to do it every time Excel opens? By the way, thanks for the help so far.

I'm no expert in certificates by if the software is designed to be used with
Excel it should have a publisher's certificate which can then be trusted by
Excel under Tools>Options>Security

I would get onto support for your program to see if they can help
