Hi:

My name is Bruce, and I just upgraded by buying a new computer, and OS.
I went from WIN 98SE to Win XP Pro. When I go on line, not all the time, but
many times, I get a pop-up screen that says something about

"Your Active X Settings may prohibit you from viewing this page in it
entirety. Do you want to change your Active X Settings?"

I'm paraphrasing of course, but thats the jist of what it says.

So far I've been using it as it is, just clicking OK, and then going on from
there but what I need to know is: _____

1)- What is/are my Active-X Settings/controls?

2)- How do I get to them to change them?

3)- I'm a single guy, rather liberal and young in my ways, and don't care to
much for others doing my sensoring for me. I don't get offended by anything,
but at the same time I don't want to open my self up to all the pop-ups and
porno either, not that it offends me, I just don't need it, and I'm not
interested in it. I finished Junior High years ago. I know what naked woman
looks like. etc...

4)- Does Direct X do just about the same thing?

5)- How do I have less than medium security, but at the same time don't get
viruses?

6)- Basically how do I get that from poping up in the future?

Bruce.

and thanks alot...

Launch Internet Explorer.
1. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
2. Click the Security tab.
3. In the Select a Web content zone to specify its security settings box, click
Internet.
4. Under Security level for this zone, if the security level is set to High,
move the slider down to Medium.
If it is not possible for security concerns to move the slider to Medium, then
follow these steps:
1. Under Security level for this zone, click Custom Level. The Security Settings
dialog box appears.
2. Under the ActiveX controls and plug-ins subsection Download signed ActiveX
controls, click either Enable or Disable.
3. The computer will still be protected from unwanted intrusions while allowing
legitimate program operations to proceed.
4. Click OK to close the Security Settings dialog box. Click Yes if prompted to
confirm the change.
5. Click Apply, and then OK to close the Internet Options dialog box.
