I had a problem where any page that had to download ActiveX controls eg
Online virus scan sites, would not download or seem to run the activex
control. After weeks of trying every thing i could i reformatted my computer.
Now it works fine but i dont want to download the windows updates cause i am
sure one of them caused the problem. My parents have a computer running
WINDOWS ME the same as me and now they have the same problem. My question is
does any one no if infact it is a update that has caused the problem, if so
which one?? and is there a fix out for WINDOWS ME so i dont have to reformatt
my parents computer to fix the problem??

Thanks jj.mac, Imm its not good is it! I take it that the talk of no more
updates applys to windows ME too?? Because if the stopping of updates only
applies to Windows 98, I wonder if there is a fix for the problem for windows
ME users??

Hi Glenn
The outlook has improved. Microsoft have issued Cumulative Security update
(916281) 0n 13 June which should resolve the ActiveX issue on Windows 98 & ME.
You are probably aware of this already. I have not checked it out fully but
first indications are that it has not cured my problem with the speed of my
computer when running McAfee VirusScan10. I had been messing about so much
with my computer's settings that I will probably now have to reinstall
VirusScan and Internet Explorer before reaching a conclusion on how effective
916281 is.
I would be interested in how you get on.
Good Luck
