Active X problem

I'm having trouble downloading a certificate for VPN from my employer's
website because when I get to the certificate page, I get the pop-up message
that an Active X control is downloading. But it never loads; it just hangs
there. As a result, I'm unable to get a certificate, which seems to be the
only thing keeping VPN and Citrix from running. I'm running Vista RC1. Any
ideas? Thanks in advance.

Ron,

Vista uses a different ActiveX control as compared with older Windows
systems (certenroll.dll instead of xenroll.dll).

You should upgrade to a Longhorn server whos CA has the proper enrollment
pages. Currently, certificates created via web enrollment from a Longhorn
server have not the proper extension bits set. So very usefull is this
option not (yet).

Thanks for the information. So if I'm understanding you correctly, it sounds
like I just have to wait until the website is capable of dealing with
certificate downloads from a Vista computer, right? In other words, hold my
horses and not try to run VPN on Vista just yet.

Ron,

Vista has an option to create an offline request. So if your Web CA allows
you to upload this request file (or paste in the web form), you could try to
use this. In this way you also have not much difficulties for the
certificate extensions.
