Bill H.

Not sure why, maybe the result of a recent MS update (we ran ms update
today), but now when we try to open up some movie trailers at apple.com,
there are several msgs from MSIE saying:

Click to run an ActiveX control on this webpage

Never had that before, and now can't figure out how to get rid of it and
just watch the movie trailers. This is msie 6 and winxp media center.

Thanks!

Bill H - Some good reading here:

Problem with update for Windows XP (KB912945)

Internet Explorer ActiveX update
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/912945/en-us
This update changes the way in which Internet Explorer handles
some Web pages that use ActiveX controls.

Good Luck

Sorry this reply doesnt relate to Bill"s problem but I seem not to be able
post new questions - which relates to my general problem. It seem recently I
am not unable to attach files in my ISP (Comcast) email service - but can
with my hotmail. Also, on web pages, I often have to click on a link twice -
the first click gives me a dull clinking sound - and nothing happens. But
often I can use the hyperlink the second time I click. Sometimes I cant.
For example, I was unable to use the "new"/Question link. Just wouldnt open
in a new page - but for some reason the reply works? Im baffled!

Uninstall 912945 via Add/Remove Programs & reboot.

Do you use a Pop-up stopper? Try disabling it?

So, if I uninstall 912945 won't it just reinstall the next time that
Windows/Microsoft Update is run?

And what does it mean by "click on the control" in the TID because I see no
way to do that?

well, when I select remove, it then lists several programs that "may not
work if this update is removed" including the mouse driver, some MS updates,
realplayer, and an HP all-in-one printer!

Now what!?
