Dear All,

after upgrading to Active Sync 3.8, I am no longer able to start the remote
connection to the device from VS2003. (Allright, I did the installation by
first properly uninstalling Active Synv 3.7.1, despite I had this uneasy
feeling that somthing might be wrong with that approach).

I now keep getting the:
"Cannot establish a connection. Be sure the device is physically connected
to the development computer".

After some frenetic "Google searches" I notice Ginny's historic answer to
another poster, telling that
reinstallation of Activ Sync, after VS2003 installation, demands a full
reinstallation of Visual Studio.

Please tell me that this is a historic message, that no longer is valid ??

Any hints regarding proper registry hacks is more than welcome :-))

Try to download Windows CE .NET Utilities v1.1 for Visual Studio .NET
2003.EXE and use SDAuthUtil.exe
I have solved the same problem with a wince 4.2 device without reinstalling
anything ...
Best regards,
A.

It is a known issue with AS 3.8. You will need to check the box "Enable
incoming Connections" in the AS settings
