I have two Win 2000 Terminal Servers connected internally
to a Win 2000 server.
The problem I am having is profile related, when logging
in to the Win 2000 server the local profile will not save
the settings unless I make all users in the Active
Directory Domain Admins.
For obvious reasons this cannot be, is there something I
am missing from either the server or the terminal servers
with regard to rights. DO I have to set up active
directory on the terminal servers as well?

Thanks in advance

Hi Rocco

No, you don't have to set up Active Directory on the Terminal Server.

The problem you appear to be experiencing is one with permissions. The path
you put in the user properties, does this share have permissions which allow
anyone to create files there, if not, the profile cannot be saved. If
indeed, you are correct in saying writing to the local profile fails, then
you might want to look at permissions locally.

Another area to look at is the policies in place on the machine, as there is
a setting which ensured profile changes are not saved.

From the way you explained your problem, it appears that you don't fully
understand the concept of Active Directory or Profiles. Have a look at some
of the whitepapers from the Microsoft 'How It Works' links -
http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/techinfo/howitworks/default.asp#section1

Hope this helps you somewhat

J.
