I have a client with 3 Domain Controllers. The first one
died and went out. The domain still works but when I go to
the domain Security policy editor it says it is not
available or I do not have rights.
The other thing I tried is changing the other DC to Global
Catalog and it still does not work.
THird item now it will not allow to install Veritas
because when you try to install an account as a service
even the admin account it says it needs to set a token but
without the policy editor I can not di it.

The one that was lost?
It was the first DC and was a global Catlaog
I am not sure. How do I look for that?

Using the AD built in utilites. Active Directory Users and
Computers. i.e. ...or the Schema Manager.

Myabe you are experience this kind of problem because
missing FSMO roles, but that's just a theory ...

I figured it out. Right Click ACtive Directory users and
Computer and change Operation Master.
Thanks for your help

If the original DC is dead you may not be able to transfer - you'll have to
seize. You'll also have redundant data in your AD which will need cleaning.
The following links link to the MS article for the meta data cleanup and an
article I wrote on the FSMO roles -this also provides the necessary links to
the MS KBs for moving, seizing, etc.

HOW TO: Cleanup the AD
