There are no PDC BDCs in an Active Directory (ignoring the PDC Emulator
Operations Master role)
All DCs are equal peers in the concept of read write masters and multi
master replication of the directory

see the Help and Support for more information on Operations Masters and
moving these roles between servers.

Windows Server 2000/2003 no longer has the concept of PDC/BDC - they are all
just domain controllers. Windows Server 2000/2003 uses multi-master
replication for the most part - meaning a change can be made on any domain
controller and it will be replicated to all others.

Now, having said that, there are some FSMO roles that can only be on one
domain controller in the forest/domain at a time (these are operations where
multi-master replication could cause conflicts or the operation does not
lend itself to being a multi-master model). Have a look at these KB
articles:

In addition to FSMO roles, a server may also be designated as a global
catalog server. Have a look at these KB articles:

You can take the Windows Server 2003 domain controller offline if you
transfer all the FSMO roles (using DCPROMO to demote the server will do this
fore you if the server is still on the network) and make sure you have at
least one global catalog server available. Is this why you want to "make one
of the win2k server bdcs the main active directory server?" Or is there
another reason?
