Recently we upgraded our NT 4.0 PDC to 2000. It went
well, we got replication going, WINS going, etc. When I
try to use Active Directory from any machine other than
the Domain Controller itself, I cannot, saying the Server
is not operational. The server is of course working, but
it does not find it whenever I try to add it from AD,
whether I use the AD domain name or the name of the
computer itself. The only error message that has given me
anything to go on is it says the RPC server is not
operational. I am not sure if this has something to do
with us using a mixed network of NT 4.0 and 2000 machines,
or perhaps it's because we use a Unix machine for our DNS
server. I have been doing much research the past few days
and haven't been able to find anything definite for why
this is happening. Any help or just a link would be
greatly appreciated. Thanks.
