Appears our logins with XP-based computers are reading the linked group
policy which includes hiding Internet Explorer's Security tab, but not logins
with 2000-based computers. Any idea why? Thanks

Run RSoP to analyze the policies being applied.

Run GPResult on the Windows 2000 machines and prove
that the policy is not being applied -- as opposed to just
not having an effect, or the desired effect.

Check your DNS -- failure to authenticate or find a DC is
the most common reason for machines to bypass Group
Policy in general.

Check your DCs for replications -- use DCDiag -- and
make sure the policy is available on all DCs. (i.e., replicated.)

Check that the policy is linked to a container (RSoP and
GPResult will help with this analysis but you can also do
it manually) and that permissions are correct.
