I hate to put out "plea" posts like this, but in this case
I am really over a barrel, and I'm sure there's an easy
fix, just trying to get it done before my client leaves
her office....
I have a Windows 2000 domain set up, and originally I had
two servers, both running WIndows 2000 Advanced Server.
One of the servers went out of service though, and it was
the PDC. I had originally thought that the two
automatically synched with one another, so there would be
no problem if one died, and that has pretty much been the
case, as I've had no problems... I did go through DCPROMO
on the old server and remove it from the domain before
putting it out of service.
I tried to add a new user account to the domain today, and
I got a message telling me that the user account will not
be available until it can be verified, presumably with the
domain controller that's no longer there. I did not
change the operations masters on server #2 and transfer
them over from server #1 before putting #1 out of service,
and I'm assuming I am now paying for that mistake...
Surely there must be a way to fix this, or do I just need
to kill the entire domain and then (Oh LORD) go back and
set up EVERY computer on the domain all over again?????
Thanks in advance for any help...
