Hi

I'm looking to remove the current AD on 2 servers then,
create a new AD on these.

Can this be done without blowing away apps such as SQL
Server on one of the Servers?

I would suspect the method would be to remove AD from
server1, build up the new AD, then use ADMT to migrate
existing users from Server2 across....?

thanks in advance
Steve

You can add and remove Active Directory without removing existing
applications but remember to check if your SQL uses any service accounts in
the domain. You may want to try the same question in a SQL newsgroup as well
in case there are any other SQL specific issues I'm not aware of. Certain
other bits will be lost like certificates or Terminal Server licenses (if
applicable).

Your ADMT plan sounds good as well. If you run dcpromo on one of the servers
to bring it down to a member server you can then reconfigure that server the
way you want it. ADMT can then be installed on the newly installed DC to
migrate accounts over.
