I am rolling out Exchange and re-configuring users existing Outlook settings.
I have one user that I don't see in the Global Address List and thus can't
get Outlook to connect to Exchange. I have deleted the Exchange features
several times and re-created the mailbox but it still isn't showing in my
GAL. I can make a new mailbox for other users or change something like a
phone number and it shows in the GAL right away - when I make a new Exchange
mbox, the AD account that I am working with has a default mail including an
X.400 address - this one that I am having problems with does not have an
address, I can put one in and I have tried putting in the X.400 - is the
X.400 necessarry? How come all of the users default ADMD fields are blank
but when I try and do this one manually it asks for an ADMD? Is the AD
object corrupt?

I have the same problem. I did figure out how to set the X.400 Address on
the one account that doesn't automatically create the email addresses though
this still did not put them in the GAL

To create the X.400 you need to put a (space) in the ADMD field.

Cheers and good luck

Sam

I found the space too by accident, I copied and pasted the contents from
another user to get the X.400.

I did solve my problem by finding in my Event Log that the user permissions
on the account having problems had ben changed. I enabled inherited
permissions matching the other objects that didn't have problems and all is
working fine now.
I'd still like to know if I need the X.400 address in there but have not had
time to read up on it.
