Hi all,

I have a win2000 Dc a brand new one with Sp4 installed and also installed an av on it. The active directory keeps locking up
and if i deactivate the av it works fine. Now after a lot of exclusions and filtering im able to get as far as the group policy
editor.

Any ideas - Urgent help needed

Mark,

What do you mean by "locking up" is there a delay in opening up the
snap-in's? Do we see any specific errors? Also, it sounds like your AV
program is not interacting with AD like it should. Is it the latest
version? Are we verifying that we are not scanning the sysvol structure?
The following article makes some recommendations about AD and AV:

822158 Virus Scanning Recommendations on a Windows 2000 or on Windows
Server 2003
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=822158

As well as this list of AV programs which are compatible with AD/FRS:

815263 Antivirus, Backup, and Disk Optimization Programs That Are
Compatible with FRS
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=815263

Hope that helps!
