Active Directory case sensitive

Two of our technicians have been having difficulties adding machines to our Active Directory domain. The primary group they belong to was given the rights to add computers to the domain. However, on some (not all) machines, they are unable to add the machine to the domain unless the domain is entered in upper case. Is there any reason Active Directory should be case sensitive?

It isn't case sensitive. What error do the techs receive when they attempt
to add the PC to the domain?
