Just carry out a repair to reactivate the check
points ,it is a bug which stops you re-activating them
but im sure it will be fixed by the time beta2 is ready .
Goto Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs
Click Microsoft Antispy then press 'Click here for
support information ' then press repair
Either that or press change then next,then update MS
Antispy,Next again then press install
Both of these methods will reactivate the checkpoints
