Active Directory and Access 2003

Our company recently changed the share drives (where the Access back end
lives) from Novell drives to Active Directory Drives.
Since then, response in general in Access is slower, and backup and
compacting is OMG from 2 minutes each to 20.
Does anyone know if I can do something to help it?
