Active desktop without icons

I'd be grateful for any suggestions to this..

I have a windows Xp embedded device!

I set up active desktop to point to www.google.com, this works fine!

I then autohide the taskbar, this also works fine.

I then remove all icons from the desktop area.. This is where it stops
working, because the minute I remove the last Icon, the webpage
dissapears, and I have a standard blue windows desktop. Now this works
just fine on a normal pc! and even more strange, if you have an icon on
the desktop, and you make it hidden, the webpage is still there, right
up until you switch between "show / hide hidden icons" in folder
options..

So it's not just weather or not the icon is there... it also has to be
visible..

any suggestions as to how I should proceed, to get my blank, icon-less,
taskbar devoid, active desktop?? (yes, I know it's a strange thing to
want)

/regards
Niels

Was the image built with the December, 2005 rollup updates? I'm asking
because there were few issues with this rollup causing problems with the IE
and Windows Explorer integration feature. These issues will be fixed in the
February, 2006 rollup update coming soon.
