I bought a PC that cam with XP pro (OEM) about a year ago
this machine is my main machine but I also use it for
testing hardware and software, now when I try and activate
online it tells me that I have exceded the max allowable
activations (or something similar) which means I need to
activate it over the phone, as there is nothing in the
EULA about how many times you can activate the product,
how do I reset the counter. Or do I go and get a crack, or
download the "Coporate edition"?

I don't want to do either of the above, which is why I
have a legit copy but will do if I can't get this sorted

You don't. You call and re-activate over the phone. Its a pretty painless process.

You can do it as many times as you need to. Activation is over
the phone is quick and easy--normally under five minutes.
