Activation query

  • Start date Start date
Alternatively, you can open the Windows Product Activation Wizard
by clicking Start, then Run, and then typing: oobe/msoobe /a
and hit "enter".

Many preinstalled versions of Windows XP do not require activation
since the installation media is BIOS-locked to a specfic model PC,
thus it cannot be installed on any other PC.

|I have a new laptop running XP Home and need to activate it.
| I have downloaded the instructions at:-
|
| http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;307890
|
| But the activation icon is not where the article says that it should be, and
| I can't find it anywhere else.
| Can someone point me to a better article covering activation, or tell me how
| to do it.
|
| TIA
| Brian Tozer
