I purchased my Dell computer last year and have been using microsoft office
for home use XP 2007 for the entire time. Last month a popup began asking me
for my product identification key - I have no idea where it is and the folks
at Dell as well as the folks at Microsoft insist that I have to purchase
another one. Any advice for this budget strapped teacher?

If the software came preinstalled on the computer, it is either a trial, or
OEM. If a trial, and it's expired, you must purchase a copy. If it is OEM,
Dell is responsible for providing you the information you need.

Hello:

Run Belarc Advisor:

<http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html>

Under the topic "Software Licenses", both the Product ID & the Product
Key will be displayed.

It reads like a newly installed Office Genuine Advantage (OGA) is
trying to re-validate your office installation without success.

If you have a legal installation, stick to your guns.
