Hi, I just got off the phone from the 1-800 number for Microsoft. I am having
problems with my copy of Vista Ultimate being active all ready. I had to
reformat due to replacing a bad motherboard. Now I can't get service pack one
on my computer. How can I get my Vista key reactivated to my account?

Assuming your have a non-branded, generic OEM version of Vista:

You can reset your Windows Vista activation by performing the following:

1. Click on the Start button and in the Start Search box type in: slui.exe 4

2. Press the Enter key on your keyboard.

3. Select your Country.

4. Follow the instructions for phone activation (no charge).

5. Once completed, restart your computer.

Was this OEM copy supplied with the PC?
Was the mobo replaced by the manufacturer/supplier of the PC?
